Sperm extraction (TESE)
What Is Sperm Extraction?
Testicular sperm extraction involves retrieving sperm so it can be used for an ICSI cycle or frozen for use at a later date.
How Sperm Extraction Works
This is a surgical procedure that removes small portions of testicular tissue under local anaesthetic and sedation.
Who Needs Sperm Extraction?
We use it when men are found to have azoospermia (no sperm in the ejaculate). This can be as a result of a blockage, or absence of the vas deferens (tubes which transport semen) or possible testicular failure.
