Embryo freezing

What Is Embryo Freezing?

Usually carried out when couples have had a cycle of IVF or ICSI with the frozen embryo transfer and also have excess embryos that are of suitable quality.

How Embryo Freezing Works

These embryos can be thawed and transferred into the uterus in the future, avoiding the need to stimulate the ovaries again. It is important to understand that not all of the embryos will survive the embryo freezing and thawing process. The survival rate of freezing embryos is strongly linked to the quality of the original embryo.

Who Needs Embryo Freezing?

Some people will have excess good quality embryos following an IVF or ICSI treatment and these can be frozen and stored for future transfer.
